The Rödl & Partner Italian Start-up Programme focuses on original and innovative projects that can meet a widely felt need or requirement, whose contribution can be measured using an objective validation system, or that offer real and tangible added value.

The process that begins with an original idea and ends with the commercialisation of a product or service consists of many stages: choosing an idea from the many available, designing the basic architecture of the product or service, conducting market analysis, verifying compliance, seeking financial resources, engineering production, structuring sales, testing and prototyping, setting up the production line, sourcing materials, manufacturing, distributing and managing the after-sales phase.

Rödl & Partner has identified four key ways to actively contribute to this complex process. The first involves providing general training to groups of aspiring entrepreneurs on fundamental legal, tax, financial, and business topics. This is followed by a helpdesk service designed to address specific queries from individuals interested in launching a business. For the most promising and structured initiatives, the firm offers personalised support from a senior professional, carefully selected based on the specific needs or challenges of each project. Finally, Rödl & Partner can promote the most deserving projects through its international network.

In order to move from the general training phase to personalised assistance, the firm requires three elements: that the inventor has a legally valid title (a patent application, copyright or other protectable right) demonstrating that his idea has been objectively found to be valid and protectable; the establishment of a company, which demonstrates that the inventor understands that a minimum of formality and compliance with basic economic rules is necessary for the development of the idea; that the company's capital has been, or is, open to incubators/accelerators/financiers, which demonstrates that the inventor understands that they must share the idea with others and that they need both the expertise and financial support of third parties to bring it to fruition.

The firm offers part of its assistance and consulting services free of charge, investing in the most promising start-ups in exchange for remuneration to be deferred until the first mass production, first order, first contract or first round of successful financing.
