Data Breach, almost half of the companies did not comply with the GDPR. That’s why they’ve been attacked.

​IBM Security announced the results of a global study that explores the preparedness of companies in relation to their ability to withstand and restore operations following a cyber attack.

The lack of response plans to cybersecurity incidents has remained constant over the four years of the study. Of the companies that have a plan in place, more than half (54%) do not test them regularly.

Most respondents believe that the role of privacy is becoming increasingly important so much so that they have a privacy leader in the company, with 73% saying they have a Chief Privacy Officer, further proving that privacy has become an important priority for companies. Nearly half of respondents (46%), on the other hand, say that their company has yet to achieve full compliance with the GDPR.

According to the study, companies that implement automation in security mechanisms save $1.55 million on the total cost of a data breach.

Survey respondents reported that they do not have the number of people needed to properly maintain and test their accident response plans. Only 30% of the participants reported that the IT security staff was sufficient to achieve a high level of IT resilience.
